Why Was Sheikh Saleh Al Talib Arrested?
A specialized criminal appeal was held in Riyadh and sheikh was sentenced to prison on a charge of overturning a previous acquittal. The news was released on Monday by the US-based rights group democracy for the Arb World Now. Sheikh was detained back in 2018 from his position and no reason was given for his detention as well. Later the reason behind his arrest was also not mentioned openly. He said many things regarding the general entertainment authority which regulates the entertainment industry and activities in the country. Sheik said that the concerts and events going to be held in the country will break the country’s religious and cultural norms.

Sheikh Talib has a large following for his views and his religious teachings, He has been followed on YouTube on a large scale for his recitations of the holy Quran on YouTube. The arrest was made right after Prince Mohammed bin Salman continued to reform Saudi society and he served and developed the society in many norms. He opted for many other diversities in the gulf kingdoms other than oil-dependent economies. As per many of the sources, many other imams who supported Shiekh Talib and his norms as well were arrested soon after crown prince Mohammed Salman came to the throne. Sheikh Talib’s sentence was quoted on the internet by Dawn which is a group formed by journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Sheikh Saleh Al Talib Arrested Reason
Spokesperson of Dawn, Abdullah Alaoudh said in a statement that the arrest and the sentence were made regarding the criticism that the sheikh showed on the rules and the reforms passed by the Saudi prince. He added that the sentence of Talin Sheikh was made for the declining prince’s rules and his norms. He added though there was imprisonment, the Sheikh will be free to speak and will be peacefully expressing his opinions and living without hesitation, unlike others. Earlier a PhD student named Salam Al-Shehab was also arrested and sentenced to 34 years for tweeting against the Saudi government decisions. Though many people criticized the decision many supported Prince Mohammad Salman.
